Today, the next boundary of The 0.5 Chronicles can be stated more clearly.

The project will not rush to define a full fourth historical volume all the way to 2030. Instead, it will first treat 2021–2025 as a more disciplined and historically readable unit.

The title of this next volume line is:

Machine Collaborators (2021–2025)

Why the boundary stops at 2025

The years after 2020 are too close to the present to be handled carelessly.

2021–2025 already form a meaningful arc: remote-first habits settling into routine, generative AI entering public life, foundation models becoming infrastructure, agent-like workflows beginning to appear, and human-machine collaboration becoming visible inside ordinary work.

That is enough for a historical segment.

But 2026 onward should not yet be treated as settled history. It is still unfolding. Its patterns are not fully clear. Its meanings are still being negotiated in real time.

A methodological decision

This is therefore not only a scope decision. It is a method decision.

The project will try to close earlier periods more carefully, while treating the still-unfolding present with more patience.

That means:

• earlier years can continue to be organized into formal volumes;
• the near-present should be recorded as living material;
• submissions, observations, workflow notes, and contemporary fragments should be allowed to accumulate before being shaped into later history.

What this changes structurally

With this decision, the main public historical architecture becomes:

• Volume I — Digital Eve (1980–1995)
• Volume II — The Age of Connection (1996–2010)
• Volume III — The Platform Age (2011–2020)
• Volume IV — Machine Collaborators (2021–2025)

And beyond that:

• Now Records continues as the place where the present is documented while still alive.
• Submissions remains open as a way to gather more voices, scenes, and evidence from the transition itself.

The 0.5 Chronicles will now treat 2021–2025 as the next historical volume boundary, and treat 2026 onward as living present-time material to be recorded carefully rather than concluded too early.

但 2021—2025 已经足够形成一段有意义的弧线：远程化习惯沉淀下来，生成式 AI 进入公众生活，基础模型开始变成能力基础设施，agent 式工作流开始出现，人机协作开始进入普通工作的内部。

这已经足以构成一个历史段落。

但是，2026 年以后不适合被过早当成已定型的历史。它仍在展开，它的结构还没有完全显形，它的含义也还在现实中被不断协商。

这其实是一个方法决定

所以，这不只是一个范围决定，也是一个方法决定。

项目会尝试把已经过去的阶段更认真地收口，同时对仍在发生的当下保留更大的耐心。

这意味着：

• 更早的年份可以继续被整理成正式卷；
• 距离现在太近的部分，应先作为“活材料”被记录；
• 投稿、观察、工作流笔记和现场碎片，应该先累积起来，再等待后续历史整理。

这会如何改变项目结构

做出这个决定之后，项目公开的历史主结构将变成：

• 第一卷 —— 《数字前夜》（1980—1995）
• 第二卷 —— 《连接的年代》（1996—2010）
• 第三卷 —— 《平台时代》（2011—2020）
• 第四卷 —— 《机器合作者》（2021—2025）

而在这之后：

• Now Records / 当下记录 继续承担“记录仍在发生之事”的角色；
• Submissions / 投稿 继续作为吸纳更多现场、材料与视角的入口。
